Non-spoilery reaction: !O_O!

Spoilery reaction )

Also, I'm pretty sure there's some sort of conspiracy between Fox, Bad Robot, and Major League Baseball - that was one evil evil cliff-hanger.

I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later about what this all means, but it's late a I have to be out of the house and probably wi-fi-less early tomorrow. Damn you, hiatus!
Let there be fic!

So, Fringe 4.06, I have many thoughts, most of them not coherent at this point. I've been trying to write up a review all weekend but words, they just will not come.

it's like the first season all over again, but not exactly... )

Why, oh why is there only one more episode until the winter break? Why?!

In other news, I am so stuck on my secret santa fic. I think it needs a sound track. I just haven't found writing music that fits. Or maybe a plot. (I'm not even entertaining the just writing smut option until down it's down to the last couple of days till deadline. Not this time.)

I knitted this weekend! Okay, actually, I unraveled a lot of yarn this weekend. And cast back on. And unraveled a lot more yarn. And cast back on. And unraveled... you get the picture. I'm getting really good at that part. My yarn, however, looks like it's been through a lawn mower.
But then today I figured out the yarn-forward/yarn-behind part so it doesn't look like a huge snarled ball and I have rows now. Progress! (also helps that I tried very hard not to think of pirates and the Black Purl each time I tried to make a purl stitch... uh yeah. Welcome to my brain with a fever.)

It has been a week. And apparently it's not over yet since the one hour work thing this afternoon is still ongoing five hours later... So not much to say about this episode except I liked it. Fringe can break your heart, but they do it with style.

bullet points... Very short list )

How can we be at episode 4 already?!

This is one of those episodes, like 'Peter' and 'Subject 13', where, watching it at face value, I'm left going "Huh, well that happened", but I'm not terribly blown away by it.

But that's just on the surface... )

So, yes, so much more than meets the eye.

Virus is kicking my ass this weekend, so there's not much thinky in this post...

Endgadget has the specs on the new iPhone. It's not the iPhone5, but rather the iPhone4s, but it does come with a dual core processor. Available from Sprint in the US on October 14th. Ironically, Apple.com is down at the moment.

This interests me the most (since really, it's a camera I can make phone calls and surf the web on):
On the back is also a new camera that sports an 8-megapixel camera with a backside illuminated CMOS sensor for better low-light performance. The lens now comes packed in a new 5-element assembly with a hybrid IR filter and sports apertures down to f/2.4.

Translation: It's fast and sharp close-up. And you could probably make some decent sized prints. (my DSLR is only 10-megapixels but I have 12x14 prints that looks nice and sharp)

First hockey game tonight. Tomorrow is going to hurt. Also provincial election day. As I said, tomorrow is probably going to hurt.

Rewatched Fringe 4.02 last night (this time without Fox's simulcast unsynching the sound from the picture, which is really distracting), and I take it back - there are some brilliant, if subtle, moments I missed the first time around.
~

Aaaaannnd... I'm pretty sure writing would be easier if my brain didn't need to know ALL THE BACKSTORY, regardless of if were actually being used or not.
Dear Self, it is not important why they are in the car, or where they are going, or any divergent history that may or may not change the name of 'Stockholm Syndrome'. What matters is they are pulling over to talk and... um... maybe other stuff... okay? Got it?

The non-spoilery:

If you've never watched Fringe before, this is an excellent jumping in spot. The episode was structured so that it's still enjoyable even without knowing any of the backstory. It's even better if when you have caught up and do know what's going on, but the writers leave just enough loose threads dangling to pique the curiosity of the uninitiated.

The visual theme of this season seems to be 'vibrance'. The colors are beautifully saturated (as opposed to last year's red tinted and blue tinted episodes), and there was a distinct lack of lens flare. I think this is a visual cue that while this is still a JJ Abrams creation, Fringe is now very much a Pinkner/Wyman production and they are firmly in control of the boat.

(also, fellow SG1 fans... that warehouse look familiar to anyone? ;)never mind - I'm getting my sci-fi confused.

The spoilery:

Neither Here Nor There )

Is it next Friday yet?

Title: A Death So Full and Man So Small
Rating: PG
Warnings: Implied alternate universe character death(s).
Spoilers: Everything up to and including the S3 finale. Everything else is speculation on my part.
Summary: He’s curious about the life she could have had without him. For want of a nail, and all that.
A/N: Written for the 2011 [livejournal.com profile] op_ficathon for [livejournal.com profile] paladin24, who asked: After the S3 finale, where is Peter and how does he get back?. Huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mrspollifax for the beta and for knowing what my subconscious is trying to say, even when I don’t. All remaining mistakes are mine alone.

There’s no way of telling what the cost might be. But it can’t be worse than this. ~Walter Bishop )
