Virus is kicking my ass this weekend, so there's not much thinky in this post...
Overall, this episode hits so many of my Olivia/Walter buttons. So many. I want to keep them just this way when Peter comes back, except maybe with Walter a little less broken. She's got so much patience with him (which makes me wonder really how much of the Cortexiphan trials she knows about) and she's so much more of a tactile person with him than blueOlivia was, and he *responds* to her touch in ways he never did with Peter.
I think most of my flist has said all there is to say about amber!Lincoln, so I'll not rehash that. I will add, however that amber!Olivia is to Lincoln as blue!Charlie was to blue!Olivia... a little more experienced, a little more hardened, but empathetic to the new kid and building the foundations of a partnership. Mentoring him. I kept expecting her to say "You're gonna be fine, kiddo". Fringe travels in circles, so I'm hoping that there's still a place for this Lincoln when all is said and done.
Also, I loved the little look Olivia flahses Lincoln when he's telling Broyles about "Gus". Like she's thinking, "Note to self: remind Lincoln of the first rule of Fringe Division: what happens in the lab, stays in the lab."
Could they have cast young Aaron any better? He could almost pass for a young Walter. And his deadpan delivery of "And... you don't think you belong in a mental institution?" was both funny and heartbreaking because the kid *understood* Walter in ways none of the grownups probably do.
I'm sure I have more thoughts but that's all that's coherent for now.
