Every so often, I purge my WIP folder. Mostly because if there's no appreciable shape to the story and I haven't touched it in six weeks, I've probably long forgotten what it's about. Most of the time it doesn't bother me that I've forgotten. If the idea is decent enough, it'll bubble up later somewhere else. Less guilt that way.

However, this one, I'd really like to know how it would have turned out:


Peter Bishop has two basic tenets: pay your own debts, and take care of the women in your life. Not that either of the woman in his life at the moment need taking care of, but he figures he does owe them both. Big time.

With Astrid, things are little simpler. Not any less important, just less complicated. She doesn’t have the same personal stake in this whole thing with his father; their relationship is less fraught. In truth, he’s a little envious of her patience with Walter.

“Hey Peter,” she greets him when he sets the cup of takeout coffee in front of her. He knows he still looks like crap, but she does a good job of covering her disapproval at his being at the lab, never mind up and out of bed.



He finds Olivia in the smaller of the two offices. Olivia, with Astrid’s help and Walter’s scattershot supervision, had arranged and sorted, and rearranged the dusty boxes enough to carve out some sort of workspace, and it was here that she retreated when she had work to do.

I feel supremely incapable of writing Fringe fic, but I really liked how you described the ideas bubbling up later. They don't disappear--they just transition. *grins*

I can't even take credit for that - mrspollifax has been trying to drum it into my thick head that it's not cheating if you're revisiting your own ideas. But yeah, there's always that one plot that just doesn't quite work with the characters at hand, and then you discover a new fandom and it's like things just click into place.

Or else just write terribly OOC fic and hope nobody notices. ;)
