Aw shucks, I'm so flattered. :D (though shouldn't your desktop be something sunny and warm?)
It's been unseasonably warm and foggy (and achingly damp) the last three days here - temps around -6C when -30C is average most years. Of course I had to take advantage of the mild weather...
That makes me even more summer-sick. ;) No, I actually adore snowy landscapes -- used to be a winter sports fan, skiing, good skater, and so on. (I know you will approve of the latter. *g*)
I approve of skiing too, it's just what passes for ski runs around here would equate to parking lots in your part of the world (or nearby, at least). ;)
I do like winter sports, even the not-so-athletic ones, like snowmobiling, but this just hasn't been much of a winter this year. It's strange.
Not here either -- until, well. Now. I will pay for it in spring (literally; 900 EUR in the cold winter of 2010/11) but right now I'm okay, in a place and country with functioning heaters and the overall wealth to afford it. Not everybody's so lucky, of course.
MmmHmmm. Definitely. My in-laws still use wood heat (my parents did too when we were all living at home and the crappy old furnace with no duct work to most of the second floor did not suffice), and I have (not-so)fond memories of hauling wood out of the bush, cutting, splitting, stacking enough for the winter. I'll usually end up piling two or three sweaters on before it even occurs to me to turn up the thermostat. lol. One does not take their heat for granted around here!

And of course they *know* you have no other choice than to pay the price they set.

Wow. But there are folks like that here, too, in this country -- there's a whole other post about frugal Germans in there too. *g*

Precisely. Sigh.
