It was really good. Not what I was expecting - it didn't pull a LOTR and follow the books faithfully, but considering that the majority of King's novels that have turned into movies and followed the books exactly ended up being pretty terrible, it's probably a good thing. This movie picked a couple of the main themes and ideas from the books and stuck with them, just changing up they details.
Also Idres Elba was amazing as Roland, I don't care how many headcanons he ruined for the fanboys.
After seeing Wonder Woman and GOTG2 already this summer, it was a bit of a letdown, but I liked it much better than any of the other movie adaptations of King's books. I don't think it would hurt the viewing experience to wait for the Blue-ray.
