I really need to read these books. The TV series is fantastic. It is also on Netflix!!

I love the cinematography in the series - it's so rich. Rewatching it on Netflix now. :)

You definitely should read the series. Skip the first book though, or come back to it once you've read a couple of the others. It's not technically a bad book, but it's a first novel and rough in a lot of places and the series references a lot of it all over the first season and out of order so it doesn't flow as well as it should. Overall, I think Longmire is one of the better page to screen translations.

Agreed on the cinematography! It's a very well made show, has a good balance between overall story arc and procedural bits, which is rare.

Will have this in mind when I get to it ( after the 10000 other books I have bought but not read *g*).
