Have finished marathoning both seasons of The Good Place. I really didn’t expect it to be so smart and entertaining. It’s been a long time since I’ve actually laughed out loud at anything on tv, but I’ve got a thing for Farscapian (it’s a word. yes) levels of ridiculousness as a cover for a deeper story arc.

Also, Ted Danson's delivery of “I mean, what do you get someone who eats unicorns? A unicorn bib! Yes! NO!”

Man, I can see it in my future too. I love smart shows too much not to.

It's a nice change from most of the drama that's on right now. I tried Mindhunter, but couldn't get past the first scene. I needed some silly escapism right now.

And what I really appreciated is how they purposely subvert the genre tropes - non-spoilery example: the two female leads get into a love-triangle girl fight setup, but before it gets anywhere, Kristen Bell's character is "you know what, we're not going to do this." and then they go off to do awkward girlfriend bonding things together.

The Good Place is just so much fun, without falling into the usual sitcom format tropes. It's a nice change from what's on tv right now.
