I so agree about the fallible characters - that's why I was so quick to jump to defend Peter in S3 when most of the fandom wanted him drawn and quartered.
Good point about Walternate's notes, which kinda makes me wonder about the Red Machine, since when Sam said the other machine was never meant to be turned on first, it implied that there did in fact need to be 2 machines.
